A hot air balloon has landed short of its location, slipping about an apartment building in Melbourne’s south on Wednesday.
Police say the balloon crashed all around 7:20am, with 13 individuals on board.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at Tiuna Grove, Elwood, fortunately reporting no accidents.
Pilot Nick Braw described on 3AW radio how a malfunction occurred on its route to Moorabbin.
“I simply cannot demonstrate what the malfunction is, so I do not know want what prompted it,” Braw explained.
“But the valve that releases scorching air from the prime, which we use to manoeuvre the balloon, didn’t seal effectively.
“It was a bit hard to continue to keep the balloon up in the air. I was flying small to check out to provide it down.”
Braw mentioned he was aiming to land at the beach, nevertheless missed by 200m.
Karen Marriage from Fairfield was onboard, a 18th birthday current for her daughter.
