It is no coincidence that these patterned chairs are strikingly regal—they ended up at first manufactured as thrones by the Yoruba individuals of Nigeria and other parts of West Africa. Each and every is beaded over every inch of its area, front, back, and sides—tiny seed beads are hand sewn onto fabric stretched above wood frames.
